Poster by L.N. Britton, 1918

I love this vintage ARC poster so much that I want a replica of my own. Perhaps as a reminder. I may not agree with the war or even support it. But I do support our military men and women who fight and die for this country, helping to sustain MY RIGHTS to support or not to support.

During WWI and WWII the American Red Cross provided volunteer knitters nationwide, yarn and instructions to knit warm clothing such as sox (socks), hats, gloves, sweaters and vest for our military men and women. The ARC WWII-era knitting patterns are available here.

This is my inspiration to knit my bit. Stitch by stitch, from the bottom of my heart, “Thank you” to my loved ones and friends who served and those serving in the armed forces.
